Demon Lord, Retry!, is called Maou-Sama Ritorai in Japanese. It is based on a light novel series written by Kurone Kanzaki. Its first edition was illustrated by Kōji Ogata, and the second by Amaru Minotake. In 2016, its serialization began on the website Hameln and Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The first season was released on July 4, and its last episode aired on September 19, 2019.

The anime follows the story of Akira Oono, an adult who works on an MMORPG Infinity Game. Akira finally chooses to shut down the game’s servers after fifteen years of creating it. Surprisingly, at midnight, everything changes, and suddenly, Akira discovers himself in the body of Infinity Game’s Demon Lord, called Hakuto Kunai.

Although Hakuto had created the game, he sees many things and creatures he is not familiar with. Such as a little girl called Aku who was being chased by a demon Greole. Hakuto starts to have doubts about investigating the world because he wants to find out many questions about this world of how he was sent here, and if it is the same world he had created. Akito starts traveling this world with Aku as his guide, and during his journey, his name becomes famous among the land as the “Demon Lord,” and many dangers begin to come near him.

Ekachi Epilka is a new animation studio as it was founded only a few years ago, in March 2017. Before Demon Lord, Retry!, it had only done one show called “Crossing Time”. After completing season one of Demon Lord, Retry!, the studio began production for “180-Byō de Kimi no Mimi o Shiawase ni Dekiru ka?” in October 2021 it is still currently working. However, this anime is being co-animated with studio Indivision.

After reading this, fans got their hopes high for a season 2 and started demanding a lot for it. However, the studio did not give any follow-up information regarding a season 2 afterward.

The first season is based on the light novel series, which ended only after three volumes, covering two of them. Soon afterward first edition finished, the author started a second edition of the light novel series and has released seven volumes so far, and it is still ongoing. Hence, there is good than enough source material available for season 2 because eight books can be used for its adaptation.

Many famous shows, such as One Punch Man, had its season 2 announced after three years. Only two years have passed since season one of Demon Lord, Retry! ended. It is possible that the announcement was being delayed because of covid-19. Considering its popularity, demand, and availability of source material, a season 2 may be announced soon. In the end of season one, the Demon Lord had left the village of Rabi with the motive to find weapons to use against magic. However, the situation changes when Hakuto meets a hero on his way. Hakuto also saved a city and entered the territory further to understand the sociological mystery of this strange world. On the other hand, a report is received that a friend of Luna had become a slave. Hence, Luna leaves to save her. In season 2, Hakuto will continue to resolve the issues in this world, so understanding more about it and slowly the mystery behind his sudden transfer into the world will unravel.
